FTC Laptops Stolen

The Federal Trade Commission is reporting that two laptop computers that belong to staff attorneys were stolen.  According to the report, these laptops were stolen from a locked car.  The agency stated that the attorneys had information on them including names, addresses, social security numbers and some financial account numbers pertaining to an upcoming lawsuit but the laptops were password protected.  The FTC is in the process of notifying the people affected.

How ironic is this that the agency resonsible for telling us how to protect ourselves from identity theft cannot follow their own practices?
