Spyware infects Oregon Department of Revenue
The Oregon Department of Revenue says more than 1,300 people face identity theft after a state employee downloaded data-stealing spyware. The employee was using an office computer to look at porn sites and accidentally downloaded a trojan horse. The trojan horse installed itself January 5th and secretley relayed data to the creators of it for four months. This data included Social Security numbers, names and addresses. Luckily it did not include any tax records or credit card data. The Department of Revenue has since banned employees of using internet for personal use.

To me something is missing here? Where was their protection software? I understand that the employee did something wrong, but was does the Oregon Department of Revenue do to protection confidential information?
